Friday Fun - November 23rd, 2018

Welcome to my Friday Fun post. This is where I share with two different book parties that post on Fridays: Book Beginnings on Fridays and the Friday 56.

I finally got to read the newest book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. My husband had gotten me the exclusive edition of Flashback from Barnes and Nobel, which had illustrated end pages, plus a short story from the perspective of one of the characters, Fitz. I didn't get to read it as soon as it arrived because I was trying to finish rereading the previous books. Once I did start it, I found it very hard to put back down, which didn't surprise me as I have been quite obsessed with this series.

I will be sharing my review of the book at some point over on my homeschooling blog, Tots and Me. For now, I will be sharing my Book Beginnings and my Friday 56

Book Beginnings on Fridays

(Please join Gilion Dumas for Book Beginnings every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.)

Here is my book beginnings for The Keeper of the Lost Cities: Flashback by Shannon Messenger.

From the Preface

"This time we win.
It was Sophie's only thought, even as the world around her fell into shadow and chaos.
Even as the Neverseen revealed their next more - their next twist in this deadly game.
A game Sophie had lost over and over again."

Sounds like the conflict between Sophie and her friends and the Neverseen is getting quite intense now. I was definitely looking forward to finding out what was going on.

Now for:
The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is hosted over at Freda's Voice.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.

Here is my Friday 56 selection.

The Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

"'Grizel handed her a new throwing star. 'Okay, then try aiming for the forehead this time.'
Sophie stared at the dummy, telling herself it was just a faceless, weathered hunk of wood shaped like a body. But her queasy stomach didn't get the message.'"
