Friday Fun - February 28, 2025

Welcome to my Friday Fun post. This is where I share with three different book parties that post on Fridays: Book Beginnings on Fridays, the Friday 56, and First Line Friday.

This week I have two books to share with you.

I'm starting Ambush by Colleen Coble which releases next week..

I'm also just starting Written in Secret by Crystal Caudill which releases on March 11th.

        Book Beginnings on Friday

(Please join Gilion Dumas for Book Beginnings every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.)

and

First Line Friday

(Please join Carrie for First Line Friday.)

Here are my Book Beginnings/First Line Friday selections:

  Ambush by Colleen Coble:

"What had possessed her to agree to this crazy idea?"

Good question. Definitely wanted to keep reading to kind out what the "crazy idea" was and why she agreed to it.

Written in Secret by Crystal Caudill:

"Many dime novelists experienced creative blocks to their writing, but Lydia Pelton doubted any of them would stoop to impersonating a clown and rescuing a three-legged goat from the circus to overcome them."

Okay, I HAD to know what was going on here.

Now for:
The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is normally hosted over at Freda's Voice. But Anne from My Head is Full of Books is taking over for a while.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.

Here are my Friday 56 selections:

Ambush by Colleen Coble:

"A lion roared in the distance, and Paradise waited for the fear to creep in, but it never happened. This little guy's escapades had made her face her fear and conquer it. Or maybe it was all God. She hugged Isaac tight. 'We'll go see how she's doing after scaring me half to death yesterday.'"

Written in Secret by Crystal Caudill:

"But how is it that a fictional man can kill? The answer lies in the very real person who hides behind the pseudonym. Yes, E.A. Dupin's name is as fictional as his characters. Should the name Poe fail to hide his deeds, Dupin can rely upon his carefully constructed alias to protect him. According to an unnamed source, even the police don't know who Dupin is."

Reviews:

Last week I shared one book in my Friday Fun post. I haven't quite finished it yet, so I'll be sharing the link to my review next week.

  1. My husband had just expressed a similar idea yesterday. What possessed him to request a home inspection? We all make decisions which we regret greatly soon after our decision.
