Welcome to my Friday Fun post. This is where I share with three different book parties that post on Fridays: Book Beginnings on Fridays, the Friday 56, and First Line Friday.
This week I have two books to share with you.
I'm starting an eARC of First Comes Marriage. . . Then Comes Murder by Donna Mumma. This is the second book in the author's Women of Wynton's series and it releases September 1st.
Plus I am starting a reread of the Timeless series by Gabrielle Meyer in anticipation of book #6 releasing in November. Starting with book #1, When the Day Comes.
Book Beginnings on Friday
(Please join Gilion Dumas for Book Beginnings every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.)
and
First Line Friday
(Please join Carrie for First Line Friday.)
Here are my Book Beginnings/First Line Friday selections:
First Comes Marriage. . . Then Comes Murder by Donna Mumma:
"Many around Levy City believed Vivien Sheffield needed to retire."
Well, how rude of them. (Sort of LOL). I did wonder if their was a specific reason.
When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer
"For as long as I could remember, my mama had told me that my life was a gift."
Knowing the story, I knew why Libby would have struggles with that.
Now for:
The Friday 56
The Friday 56 is normally hosted over at Freda's Voice. But Anne from My Head is Full of Books is taking over for a while.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.
Here are my Friday 56 selections:
First Comes Marriage. . . Then Comes Murder by Donna Mumma:
"'Did either of you see a woman come in here? Blue suit, straw hat?' Gigi nodded. 'She came by here a few minutes ago.'
The man leaned on her freshly cleaned counter. 'Did you sell her anything?'
'No.'
'Good. We just snagged her as a shopper. Dale and I ran her off from our department. She kept asking about when our suits were going on sale. We think she came here to snoop for Worrell's Men's Shop.'"
When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer
"Our driver dropped us off at the front door, and we walked up the wet steps to our house. All I wanted was to climb out of the heavy gown I wore, slip into my nightgown, and then bury myself beneath the down comforter on my bed so I could wake up in Williamsburg."
Reviews:
Last week I shared one book in my Friday Fun post. I'm still reading it, and loving it so far.
Three weeks ago I shared two book in my Friday Fun post. I already shared the review for the one book. Here is the review for the other:
First Comes Marriage. . . Then Comes Murder looks interesting. Is the woman really a snoop for Worrell's Men's Shop?
ReplyDeleteI love that Donna Mumma cover!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover the Mumma book. So fun and old-fashioned-ish. The quote from page 56 was a bit confusing, but that happens sometimes when we pull quotes out of the air. Happy weekend!
