Welcome to my Friday Fun post. This is where I share with three different book parties that post on Fridays: Book Beginnings on Fridays, the Friday 56, and First Line Friday.
This week I have three books to share with you.
I read Lethal Licorice by Amanda Flower.
I'm starting Deadly Revenge by Patricia Bradley.
I'm also starting Once Upon a Christmas by Penny Zeller.
Book Beginnings on Friday
(Please join Gilion Dumas for Book Beginnings every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.)
and
First Line Friday
(Please join C arrie for First Line Friday.)
Here are my Book Beginnings/First Line Friday selections:
Lethal Licorice by Amanda Flower:
"When the pig went missing, I knew there would be trouble."
Sounded like some interesting kind of trouble. I couldn't wait to read more.
Deadly Revenge by Patricia Bradley:
"Chattanooga Detective Jenna Hart backed her ten-year-old unmarked Chevy into the church parking lot beside an even older Ford."
I wondered if something nefarious was going on at the church or if it was just Sunday and time for worship.
Once Upon a Christmas by Penny Zeller:
"Would he have the courage to follow through with his plan?"
Good question. But, first I needed to know what the plan was.
Now for:
The Friday 56
The Friday 56 is normally hosted over at Freda's Voice. But Anne from My Head is Full of Books is taking over for a while.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.
Here are my Friday 56 selections:
Lethal Licorice by Amanda Flower:
"Aiden hurried over to the younger officer and gently reprimanded him. 'Little, let's not wave the evidence out in the open for all to see, okay?'"
Deadly Revenge by Patricia Bradley:
"The three men shook hands and Junior and Todd walked back to their table while Max sat down and put away his notepad and pen. He'd thought about using his tablet to make notes, but considering his 'big city ways' might irritate Junior, he opted for old school. He turned to Jenna. 'I'd say first on our agenda for this afternoon is to find your grandfather's accident report.'"
Once Upon a Christmas by Penny Zeller:
"As a kid, Ambrose practiced keeping the law while insisting his younger brother, Little Russell, be the perpetual outlaw. Little Russell happily agreed until he was about five years old and argued that he didn't want to be on the wrong side of the law."
Reviews:
Last week I shared two books in my Friday Fun post.
Funny first line about the pig going missing. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Much Ado About Margaret by Madeleine Roux. So far, it's been quite enjoyable!
""Someone will collect him, surely." The woman sitting beside Maggie at breakfast sounded distraught. "They can't just leave him on the road like that, can they? It could rain!"
I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with relaxing reading time. 🙂♥📚
