I really enjoyed A Sudden Romance by Rose Fresquez. I admit it's not a genre of usually choose, just a plain ol' contemporary romance, which I only chose because it was suggested as a book that would fulfill three of my April reading challenges as I was in a time crunch.
That said, I really enjoyed Sabastian and Iris's romance. The story is told from both of their points of view. Sabastian is the chef for Iris's rich family, though he is also seen as part of the family, and he has had a crush on Iris for many years. Though, as the chef, he feels it isn't his place to have these feelings and he is so tongue tied around Iris that he can't see a relationship ever developing. Iris is the youngest daughter in the Stone family, though she is the only biological daughter. She also is unaware of Sabastian's feelings toward her.
Iris works in architechture and her business is based in Boston. However, it is time for their family reunion so in this story she is heading back to her childhood home in Colorado.
Iris and Sabastian are in charge of putting the reunion together, so they end up spending a lot of time together. There are struggles and misunderstandings, and ups and downs, but as the story progresses we see their relationship evolve. But, can it withstand the differences and obstacles?
I really enjoyed this story, though I did lower my rating one star because part of me couldn't get past how stalkerish Sabastian seemed at times. That said, I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series and learn more about Iris's siblings.
