The Butterfly Recluse by Therese Heckenkamp Review

The Butterfly Recluse by Thereses Heckenkamp is my first book by this author, and I can't wait to read more. I picked up this book because I needed a book that had an insect in the title. It sounded intriguing. A young lady, Lila, is living her life caccooned in her own world, not sure how to deal with her grief, her only friend someone she met online. That is until Harvey shows up on his motorcycle with the request of needing some of her butterflies for a butterfly release. She wants nothing to do with him, but he is determined, and persistent, and just plain stubborn. Due to his persistence, she slowing comes out of her shell and realizes she might have feelings for him. But will this be a mistake? Is she too naive? Should she really be trusting him?

There are so many twists in this story. There is fun and laughter, but also sorrow as we learn more about her backstory and even with things she is dealing with in the present. And then suddenly there is a dangerous twist I did not see coming. I already couldn't put the book down, I finished it in a bit over 12 hours, and that was with sleep in between readings. But once the suspense ramped up, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

This book is listed as contempory Christian romance, but it is so much more. The author found a way to include so many life lessons, and spiritual lessons. And I had to love the fact that Lila was homeschooled and had a love of learning, which she was using in her love of butterflies, and other bugs as well.

This was just an awesome book and I can't wait to get my hands on more of them.
