Welcome to my Friday Fun post. This is where I share with three different book parties that post on Fridays: Book Beginnings on Fridays, the Friday 56, and First Line Friday.
This week I have three books to share with you.
I read Justice Delayed by Sarah Hamaker as a member of the launch team. The book just released this past Wednesday.
I am reading The Crown Conspiracy by Connie Mann as a member of the launch team.
I also just started A Cry in the Dark by Jessica R. Patch.
Book Beginnings on Friday
(Please join Gilion Dumas for Book Beginnings every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.)
and
First Line Friday
(Please join C arrie for First Line Friday.)
Here are my Book Beginnings/First Line Friday selections:
Justice Delayed by Sarah Hamaker:
"'What time did the alleged robber come into your store, Mr. Patel?' Fairfax Herald reporter Brogan Gilmore asked."
I wanted to know more about this robbery and why it was important to the story.
The Crown Conspiracy by Connie Mann:
"She ran down the quiet streets, her fine leather slippers making no sound on the worn cobblestones."
I wanted to know why she was running and if there was a reason she was wearing leather slippers.
A Cry in the Dark by Jessica R. Patch:
"Fifteen months ago, Adam had promised to let her go."
Who was this Adam to her and why had she had to wait so long to be "let go."
Now for:
The Friday 56
The Friday 56 is normally hosted over at Freda's Voice. But Anne from My Head is Full of Books is taking over for a while.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.
Here are my Friday 56 selections:
Justice Delayed by Sarah Hamaker:
"She shook her head as Mrs. Trent started to protest. 'Until I find out the truth of what happened to Jesse, I can't go home. The mountains should be used as a snctuary, as a resting place, not as a hiding place. If I go back before this is completely resolved, the peace that the mountains give won't be mine. It'll be a facsimile of the rest I'm longing to have.'"
The Crown Conspiracy by Connie Mann:
"Heart pounding and lungs burning from the effort, he ran until he reached the train station. He bought a ticket, a ball cap, and a newspaper, then boarded the next train. He didn't check to see where it was going until after it pulled away from the station."
A Cry in the Dark by Jessica R. Patch:
"'Because Him is a bad man.' Whoever Him was, he had taken things from Atta. Maybe even her life. Why was Him giving her daughter gifts?"
Reviews:
Last week I shared two books in my Friday Fun post. Here are my reviews for them, plus a couple from previous weeks:
I like the pg 56 quote from Justice Delays. I wonder what they are hiding from.
ReplyDeleteThe first line of A Cry in the Dark is an interesting one. I noticed that The Crown Conspiracy features a character running in the first line and in the 56 that you chose - coincidence? And I love the cover of Justice Delayed - her hair color is what I aspire to although my face certainly shows that I'm much older! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteWhew, it's been a crazy week. I'm just now able to get to FLF. 😥
I'm just starting No Place Like Home by Jess Mastorakos.
"I don't wanna go." It was a simple statement, yet I worked very hard to keep a petulant pout off my lips as I looked at my manager in the mirror's reflection.
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! 🙂❤️📚
