Friday Fun - August 2, 2024

Welcome to my Friday Fun post. This is where I share with three different book parties that post on Fridays: Book Beginnings on Fridays, the Friday 56, and First Line Friday.

This week I have two books to share with you.

Last week I read Home for Christmas by Heidi Chiavaroli for one of my reading challenges.

I just finished reading If the Boot Fits by Karen Witemeyer for another one of my reading challenges.

        Book Beginnings on Friday

(Please join Gilion Dumas for Book Beginnings every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.)

and

First Line Friday

(Please join C arrie for First Line Friday.)

Here are my Book Beginnings/First Line Friday selections:

Home For Christmas by Colleen Coble, Carol Cox, Terry Fowler and Gail Gaymer Martin:

"'I've come for my niece.'"

I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. It was cleared up in the following sentence.

If the Boot Fits by Karen Witemeyer:

"She'd only been home from school for two weeks, and already her father was trying to marryher off."

She didn't seem too thrilled with that prospect.

Now for:
The Friday 56

The Friday 56 is normally hosted over at Freda's Voice. But Anne from My Head is Full of Books is taking over for a while.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.

Here are my Friday 56 selections:

Home For Christmas by Colleen Coble, Carol Fox, Terry Fowler, and Gail Gaymer Martin:

"Eden felt a rising sense of excitement. For too long she had followed the same schedule day after day, month after month, year after year. She was in a rut, and it felt good to break out, to smell the fresh air, to see something beyond the city limits of Wabash, Indiana. She clambered into the front passenger seat and fastened her seat belt."

If the Boot Fits by Karen Witemeyer:

"A sigh slipped from her lips as she wove her way through the dispersing congregants. Did such a man exist? She wanted to believe he did. That God would cross his path with hers when the time was right. But would she recognize him when that day came? Or would she be so jaded by past disappointments and fearful of future hurts that she failed to take the risk required to find love?"

Reviews:

Last week I shared two books in my Friday Fun post. I have finished one of them, so I'll share the link to my review below. I also already posted the reviews to the two books above.

  1. I just realized there was a reading challenge called Christmas in July. Did you read your Christmas book as part of that challenge? I should think about it for next year.

  2. Happy Friday!
I'm currently reading As the Crow Flies by Jess Mastorakos. It's super cute!
"Dakota let out a very unladylike snort."
    Have a great weekend!

  3. They both sound good. I want to read more historical fiction.

    Have a great weekend!
