If the Boot Fits by Karen Witemeyer Review

If the Boot Fits is another great western fairy tale retelling by Karen Witemeyer. I am loving this series. This one is a retelling of Cinderella with not just a historical western twist, but a gender swap as well.

Samantha's father, the cattle king of their county in Texas, is looking for a husband for his daughter.

Asher Ellis (Ash-Cinder, Ellis-Ella, get it?) is a part of a loving family, living with his not-evil step-mother and not-evil step-brothers whom he loves very much. So much that he trespasses on the ranch of Eli Dearing, Samantha's father, during the ball that was arranged with the intent of finding a husband for her He trespasses so he can find proof that his family was wrongfully evicted from their home. Guess what he leaves behind while running off after almost getting caught. His boot.

I loved seeing the equivalents to the original story, though not as many as the first book. But there was so much more to this book.

I loved the relationship Asher had with his family and how much he cared for them. I also loved the way the author got Asher and Samantha together and developed their relationship. There was quite a bit of action and adventure in this story as supposed-accidents and other things keep befalling Samantha. And there's the mystery of finding out exactly what is taking place.

And though there are mentions of infidelity and premarital sex, the consequences are clearly seen.
I read this book for one of my challenges (even though I would have read it anyway), and highly recommend it, and the previous book
